History
God's Story
Gateway Fellowship Church is a community-driven church that started as a small group in a living room in 2007. With small groups at the heart, we quickly multiplied in numbers and moved into a permanent location in 2015. We follow a simple model of discipleship through small groups and a worship service, and have a passion for church planting. On our 2nd year anniversary, we sent a team to start a Spanish church. This step of faith cultivated a passion for a church multiplying movement that drove us to send three more church planting teams in the San Antonio area.

Our vision at GFCN is to see 100 churches planted all over the world. In the past 7 years, our church family has/is planting 9 new churches around the San Antonio area with locations in Kerrville, Lytle, Español, West Side, Downtown and Bandera.

In 2019 and 2022 we adopted churches who were on the path of closing down. By sending a healthy team and creating a healthy transition, both of these churches are a shining light to their community.

Our heart is to see the expansion of God’s Kingdom here in our country and throughout the world. We have invested Kingdom dollars into equipment for portable locations and for the training of people who have a call and heart to reach the lost. Whether it's a new plant or a church adoption, we are here to help.

What We Believe
As we live our lives following these core values and investing into the Kingdom of God, we believe God will build the local church to have an impact and make a difference.
Beliefs
01
God Is The One True God and Jesus Is His Son
There is one all powerful God that is the creator of Heaven and Earth. He loved us so much that he sent his Son so we can have a relationship with Him. Jesus Christ is fully God who was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, taught truth, died on a cross, and resurrected from the dead. His same healing power is available for us today. – John 17:3
02
People Sin. God Saves.
We mess up and the Bible calls it sin. God created us in his own image, but we chose disobedience. We deserve death and separation from God, but by his grace through his Son Jesus we can be forgiven. By trusting God as our Lord and Savior, we can experience freedom and live an amazing life. – Romans 6:23
03
Communion & Water Baptism
There are two ways we can remember what Jesus did for us on the cross. Communion is memorial and a celebration. The eucharist consists of two elements: the bread helps reminds of his body and the cup reminds of his blood. The Bible encourages us to follow his example by being immersed in water as soon after we make a decision to follow him. It is a public way for us to show that we are changed. – Acts 2:41-42
04
180-Lifestyle
God welcomes us the way we are, but change begins to happen from the inside out. We stop living for ourselves and desire to glorify God by our actions and words. – Romans 12:1-2
05
The Holy Spirit
The baptism of the Holy Spirit gives us power to share the good news of Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin. He gives us different gifts so we can build up the church and love others. The gifts of the spirit demonstrated in an orderly way are a beautiful and vital part of the church. – Acts 1:8
06
The Church
The church is filled with authentic followers of Jesus who follow the New Testament church in its four purposes (Worship, Instruction, Fellowship, and Expression). The mission of the church is to become friends with the unconvinced so there may be opportunities for them to become life long followers of Christ. – Ephesians 4:12
07
God's Plan For The End Times
The Bible says that Jesus will return to the earth to bring his followers to Heaven. There will be a final judgement in which the dead will be resurrected and judged. Everyone whose name is not in the Book of Life, will be separated for eternity in Hell. Those whose names are written in the Book of Life will be rewarded and spend eternity with other followers in Christ in Heaven. – 1 Thessalonians 4:17
Values
01
Spiritually Engage and Walking With Jesus
We live each moment with the awareness that we are in God’s presence. Our life can be fully devoted to Jesus by loving, talking, listening, reading scripture, journaling, and obeying his voice constantly.
02
Passionate Purpose To Make Disciples
The highest honor is becoming friends with someone far from God and helping them become a devoted follower of Christ Jesus who helps someone else do the same. Every person matters to God. Therefore, we show God’s love and concern to everyone at every opportunity by being full of the Spirit of God.
03
Relationally Connected and Resolving Conflict Biblically
We strive to cultivate relationships built on love – love that provides encouragement, honesty, approachability, and accountability. We also seek and accept the truth spoken to us in love by resolving conflict biblically through constant forgiveness.
04
Participation Encouraged and Creativity Embraced
It is wrong for church to be boring so we will creatively use media and other relevant tools to encourage participant interaction.
05
Ethnic Backgrounds Embraced By Looking Beyond Ourselves
We desire our church to look more like Heaven and celebrate cultural diversity.
06
Team Focused and Serving Together
There is no “I” in team. We desire to equip people to make a kingdom impact. Therefore, we envision every person in our church body part of a team, developing and using his/her talents to serve together. The team approach is visible every Sunday from our worship to teaching team.
07
Excellence Driven and Providing Relevant Ministry
We seek a high standard of excellence in the details.
